I served our country in the United States Air Force as an Air Traffic Controller for 4 years and continued on as a civilian for another 7 years. During that time I maintained a Top Security Clearance (worked AirForce1!) and was also awarded the Sr Airman Below the Zone award. This meant out of everyone on our base who was up for the rank I was awarded it first for many reasons but uniquely because I completed my training in 11 months when 36 months is normal. I was forced to medically retire from Air Traffic Control due to guidelines on retaining a medical clearance, like pilots. There were quite a few medical conditions that happened all at once that truly caused me to question the priorities in my life. This was the moment that I gave my life over to Christ and devoted myself to following Him as fully as I know how. I enrolled at Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and completed a Bachelors of Biblical Studies in May of 2016 along with an internship at Abundant Life Church in Lee's Summit, MO. Abundant Life was a fast growing church growing from appx 2500 members to around 6000 currently. I worked underneath 5 different pastors in the areas of groups, discipleship, local outreach, missions and care ministries.Next, I stepped into a Connections Ministry Residency at Grace Church, Overland Park, KS. This is a multi-site Church with 3 different locations averaging appx 2500 attendees. The residency program covered Guest services, Involvement, Groups/Discipleship and care ministries. During this time I would oversee the guest experience for the weekend and develop leaders to run the volunteer teams. Create community and Church involvement experiences like the local Harvest Festival and also monthly First Steps classes. Within Groups and Discipleship I did everything from recruiting people and leaders to launching new studies, currently running around 70 small groups.I also work as a metal fabricator locally to help make ends meet, while running a small business creating custom metal signs with a CNC machine. I had the opportunity to get back into the aviation field teaching Air Traffic Control and using all that training to help others. I'm excited to see how God is going to use all that I've been exposed to for His glory.
