WaveCrest operates globally, with the flexibility to target both onshore and offshore regasification and downstream projects.Before founding WaveCrest Energy, Rob was instrumental in reshaping the energy industry. As a co-founder and CEO of Excelerate Energy, he led the development of the world’s first floating storage and regasification units (FSRUs), revolutionizing the delivery of natural gas to underserved markets. Under his leadership, Excelerate grew from concept to generating over $300 million in EBITDA, maintaining a dominant position in the industry.Excelerate initially focused on LNG trading in North America, but the growth of shale gas production required a shift in strategy. Rob redirected the company’s focus from domestic imports to global LNG market development, driving one of the most successful project pipelines in the industry. Over a decade, he oversaw the completion of more than a dozen projects with a total capacity exceeding eight billion cubic feet per day across North America, South America, Asia, and the Middle East, consistently delivering projects on time, on budget, and with top-tier safety and operational records.Rob also fostered a culture of innovation at Excelerate, encouraging the development of new technologies to reduce costs and improve performance.With a hands-on leadership style and a deep understanding of the full project lifecycle—from concept to commercial operation—Rob has built and managed high-performing teams across trading, engineering, operations, and development. He is equally effective in the boardroom, statehouse, Capitol Hill, or in the field with customers and clients.Prior to Excelerate, Rob was Managing Director at El Paso Corporation, where he oversaw North American LNG operations and global LNG infrastructure development. His background spans midstream natural gas, power, water, wastewater, and marine infrastructure development.Rob holds a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering from Texas A&M University, as well as a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering and an MBA in Finance from The University of Texas at Austin.
