I teach English language and U.S. culture to Chinese 15-18 year olds who wish to study abroad. As Academic Dean I design curriculum, plan course scheduling and logistics, recruit new teachers and students, and gather feedback from students, faculty, parents and administrators in order to formulate, propose, and implement policy changes.

I taught classes of adult ESL learners, ranging from age 18-60. Students came from dozens of different countries, but most commonly South Korea, Saudia Arabia, Turkey, and Brazil. The curriculum was standardized by the company, but I frequently created extension activities and topics based on the provided themes.

I acted as an assistant to professors at UMass's English classes for international students, and also provided one-on-one writing assistance to students. Students were generally aged 17-22, and were mostly from China and Latin America.

I provided counseling and oversight in a group home for adolescent boys in the custody of the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families (DCF). The job was very variable, and included counseling, medication administration, behavior management, medical care coordination, family liaison, and administrative responsibilities.

I provided one-on-one conversational English lessons to adult students, mainly from Japan, Korea, and the UAE.

I lived for 5 months in a small village in Karnataka State, India. I taught at a school that was run by a Bangalore-based nonprofit. The students were aged 4-17, and were mostly the children of migrant workers in the city who struggled to take care of and educate them. At the Ashraya school, I taught conversational English classes in return for room and board, and spent a lot of time socializing with the kids. It absolutely changed my life.

I provided direct-care counseling and assistance to adults living with severe and chronic mental illnesses in a residential group home setting. The residents were under the care of the Massachusetts Department of Mental Health (DMH). The residents were aged 24-68, from a wide variety of economic and ethnic backgrounds. My responsibilities included counseling, medication administration, coordination of medical care, administrative record-keeping, conflict resolution, and assisting the residents with everyday tasks while helping them to establish independence.
