My name is Robert Colley, I'm a PhD Student studying Materials Science & Mechanical Engineering at the Harvard John A. Paulson School of Engineering and Applied Sciences. My goal is to build a career in energy storage technology research and development. I am currently researching anode and electrolyte material systems for all solid state lithium batteries in the Xin Li group.My academic background is in Chemistry, which I received a BA for in 2022 from Cornell University's College of Arts & Sciences. Following graduation, I spent eight months as an intern in the Electrochemical Energy Storage group at Brookhaven National Lab, where I studied the evolution of layered transition metal oxide cathode materials and localized high concentration electrolyte systems over extended cycling.General skill overview: I have hands on experience with dry lab materials synthesis and evaluation (Synchrotron X-ray Absorption Spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy, Cyclic Voltammetry, Differential Voltage Capacity measurement). In addition to experimental experience I also have experience analyzing data with ATHENA XAS processing software, Wolfram Mathematica, Python, Excel, Igor Pro, and R. Describing myself, I'd like to say I'm honest, hardworking, and extremely curious about the way things work. I enjoy going back and forth with others on all manner of topics, from philosophy to quantum physics. I consider my background broad-based: alongside chemistry, I have a wide array of physics and applied math under my belt. having a wide range of different exposures has allowed me to draw connections and parallels between topics that I never would have expected to find otherwise. As an aside, I'm also quite well acquainted working with digital audio (and by extension have a good grasp and interest in signal processing).
