A dual Senior Civil Service role working in both the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (DSTL) and Defence Equipment and Support (DE&S) (as Head of Technology). My primary objective is to maximise the impact that the MoD science and technology research programme has on improving military capability. Current key workstreams are focused on developing effective open architectures and energy and power management in austere locations. Other workstreams cover the breadth and depth of the defence programme.

A Senior Civil Service appointment responsible for programme management of equipment and support arrangements for military materiel used in the land domain. Projects within the overall programme ranged from commodity supply to complex multi-million pound major projects. My role involved leading a team in the headquarters of the DE&S Land Equipment operating centre (1300 staff) to ensure coherent programme management using OGC Managing Successful Programmes (MSP) principles and to ensure appropriate financial provisions were made to deliver the programme. I line managed a number of delivery teams and established a range of programme support offices.
