I lead the British Library's public policy function with a focus on Whitehall, Parliament, and local, regional, and international governments, in support of the Library's Living Knowledge vision.The British Library is a world-class cultural and intellectual resource, and the custodian of the nation's written and spoken heritage. Key responsibilities: - Developing organisational strategy and positioning in a political context - responsibility for key projects including Living Knowledge For Everyone (enabling a pivot in response to Covid-19 impacts) and the current 'BL2030' project which is developing a successor to the current Living Knowledge strategy (2015-23)- Manage sponsorship relationship with Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport and Private Office- Manage wider high level political engagement, such as Ministerial engagement. In 2021 I managed a VVIP reception at Number 11 Downing Street, showcasing a Library loan and using the opportunity to engage stakeholders with key policy asks (around support for major capital projects)- Manage and deliver a wider range of political engagement channels, from events to social media and e-newsletters, to maintain the Library's reputation with policymakers- Provide policy advice to senior leadership team on diverse issues arising from the Library's broad span of purposes and activities. - Identify and exploit legislative opportunities for the Library to directly or indirectly benefit from changes in the law - including the British Library Board (Power to Borrow) Act 2021- Drafting key corporate communications such as the Annual Report, providing key messages for colleagues across the business working with diverse audiences- Representing the Library in key forums with senior external stakeholders
