The majority of objectives were breached and easily achievable through human manipulation and exploitation.20 years on and nothing has changed. Since the introduction of the internet the opportunity with gaining access and acquiring information has become much easier. As the cyber security industry has advanced it has widened vulnerabilities more so than ever before.Basic principles have been ignored as the focus is to use and sale software convincing millions to trust and rely on their products while creating a dependable multi-billion industry. Businesses rely heavily and depend on the non- field based experienced individuals who are employed to protect against cyber threats. As human’s beings we have not adapted well to the invisible threat however, we have taken to our new cyber and digital world for the simplicity that it provides us. This simplicity comes at a cost, complacency is our ‘Achilles’ and millions have fallen victim either as a business or personally to a scam, virus, and espionage to name a few.Software, policies, procedures, and practices are not the full proof solution as reliable or dependable and install a false sense of security however, they play their part. Common sense, awareness and discipline provide and help enhance any security posture if correctly related and taken seriously. Going back to basics.
