•Developed MI reports to agreed deadlines with the business, after agreeing report format, contents and definitions.•Improved the efficiency of the MI Department through automation of manual processes, cessation of reports that were no longer needed by the business, consolidation of reports etc.•Managed a major project for the MI department, re-developing more than 60 legacy reports to use efficient SAS programming freeing up more than 3 working hours per day for each developer within the team.• Converted a suite of reports that were previously produced through VBA Excel macros, to run entirely in a server SAS environment.•Automated several processes for the archiving of historic server based datasets, once again increasing available development time for developers, and ensuring that data was archived in a consistent format at the same time each month.
