• Sole engineering authority and integral member of the flight crew, responsible for providing engineering expertise in Avionics, Aircraft Electrics, Propulsion, Airframes, flying controls and hydraulic/pneumatic systems. • Appointed Authorised Person, permitted to conduct independent pre/post flight inspections on: engines; airframes; aircraft systems; auto pilots and flying controls. • Manage emergency engineering works against operational commitments and aircraft availability/limitations. • Issue Aircraft Limitation Orders and guarantee the serviceability of aircraft. • Provide in flight engineering information to Flight Captain and influence flying decisions.• Manage aircraft landing authorisations and liaise with customs staff. • Mastermind the rapid deployment of additional engineering staff, equipment and aircraft parts to enable the swift repair and recovery of aircraft worldwide.• Organise logistics and manage transport, travel and accommodation.• Manage specialist projects through to conclusion. • Attend senior management meetings, when deployed on operations, and impact on decisions. • Act as an ambassador for the RAF and liaise with aircraft manufacturers as/when necessary. • Work at height, in confined spaces and in hazardous conditions. Operate tooling, equipment and machinery.• Manage aircraft log books and certifications. • Deliver technical training to Trainee Ground Engineers and assist with personal development.
