I am a Barrister at the Victorian bar specialising in the following areas: - Family Law - Domestic & Family Violence Law - Child Welfare & Protection Law - Criminal LawI am on Holmes List. Before coming to the bar, I was most recently a Senior Legal advisor to the NT Attorney-General. Prior to that appointment, I was the Deputy Managing Lawyer at the North Australian Aboriginal Family Legal Service (NAAFLS) engaged in providing legal services to remote Aboriginal communities of the NT. Before I relocated to the Northern Territory in 2018, I operated my own boutique family and criminal law firm, Gray & Jackson Lawyers in Ballarat. Throughout my career, I have practiced primarily in the area of Family Law and was accredited as a Family Law Specialist by the Law Institute of Victoria in 2009. I have also practiced extensively in the Family Division of the Children's Court of Victoria. In 2011, Dr Sharon Gilroy (then Chief Clinician at the Children’s Court of Victoria) and I co-authored a paper on the interaction between the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child and Australian laws as they affect children and young people at a State and Federal level. Although perpetually suspended in its 327th publication draft [approximately ;-)], presentations of the paper were well received at professional conferences in Noosa, Qld and Tuscany, Italy. In terms of community involvement, I was President of the Ballarat and District Law Association from 2013-2015 and a member of the executive for several preceding years. I am also a former Chairman and a director of 99.9 Voice FM (Ballarat Community Radio) from 2011-2016.I am also a director and primary legal advisor to the Faith, Hope & Love Children's Foundation Australia Inc which is a non-profit organization working to fund projects and infrastructure in developing countries to alleviate the effects of extreme poverty upon children.
