As a BTP officer I play a crucial frontline role delivering a high quality service in a challenging and demanding environment.BTP is unique, it is a national police force that works collaboratively with the rail industry. In my role I ensure the safety and security of passengers travelling on the rail network and on the London Underground, in addition to keeping rail staff safe from harm when they carry out their daily duties. In my role as a Police officer I carry out regular station patrols, respond to calls, gather intelligence, investigate crimes on the rail network and reassure the travelling public that they can feel safe when travelling to and from their destinations. I possess strong communication skills in order to perform this role, as I can go from arresting a suspect for a crime to helping a person who is having a mental health crisis. In contrast to the opposite end of the spectrum where I would be delivering a sympathy message to say a loved one has died on the rail network.

As a home delivery driver it is my responsibility to ensure that I complete a full vehicle check to make sure it is roadworthy before I take it out. I then load up the van with the days orders of milk and groceries and check that it matches up with the load sheet. I deliver the milk and groceries to the customer, I make sure that the customers get the right orders by using a hand held device with all the orders on. I deliver to around 300 customers a night and have to make sure that I have finished the round by 7AM so everyone gets their milk and goods before they go out to work or school. My other responsibilities are to collect cheques and cash, I input the denomination onto the handset and once back at the Dairy I count the cash up and make sure it is correct. Once this has been done I then go to the post office and cash in the days takings.
