Working on the onboard software team which is responsible for developing the software for the Dove satellite, a proprietary 3U cubesat for LEO Imaging. Planet has one of the largest active satellite constellations in the world. It is used to provide prompt Earth Imagery at a previously unheard of cadence.

Principal embedded engineer on the Getaround Connect, a connected-car device which allows customers to access a car through their smartphone. The Carkit is an ARM9 based system running embedded linux. Radio blocks included embedded wifi, GSM and GPS. Distinguishing feature of the Carkit is the requirement for high availability (timely lock/unlock of the car). Considerable work was done to optimize Carkit uptime through the data channel, as well as adding SMS based backup.

As part of a small start up, managed a group of contractors as well as engaging in hands-on development to bring the Geomate.jr GPS device to market. This included software system design, production level testing, system performance testing, and hardware verification and debug. Managed several contractors for webapp operations, and some PC based Software Components. Hands-on software development in this phase involved everything from ARM7 embedded code, Mac serial communications code, PC/Mac socket programming, browser extensions and javascript for the Geomate website. Established and Maintained the process and tool system to ensure scalable operation of the product.Also engaged in developing documentation, wiki content and supporting material for fund-raising efforts and possible sale of the company.

Founded a new start-up for the purpose of building innovative, very low cost GPS devices for consumer markets. Ultimately we focused on the Geomate.jr, a low cost GPS device designed specifically for Geocaching. With the Geomate.jr we engaged in the complete product life cycle for a new device, in part after Navit Innovations was purchased by Apisphere, Inc. This effort involved business level functions including supporting the company formation and fund-raising efforts including pitch presentations. It also involved defining the engineering environment, including the Configuration setup and process, firmware architecture and unit test framework. From the implementation side, I worked on the firmware, including the highly optimized location based search algorithms, the display drivers, task level and ISR code and power control.

Architected the SiRFStarIII software and oversaw the SiRFStarIII SW Implementation effort. Included being the technical lead for 17 engineers across three offices. The fundamental architecture definition was still valid five years after the first release. The SiRFStarIII product was a market leading GPS performance product in the wireless and autonomous markets with $600+ million in revenue. Also engaged in system level test definitions, process and build improvements, SW configurability and actual coding.

Member of the core SiRFloc engineering team developing E911 GPS solutions for the wireless environment. Held the Team Lead position responsible for delivering the SiRFLoc GPS SW solution to a major handset manufacturer. Successfully delivered on time for the first non-CDMA GPS-Enabled E911 Mobile Phone in the U.S. Market. Also successfully delivered a SiRFLoc solution for one of the first GPS-Enabled handsets in the European market. At various times during this period, engaged in extensive debugging on the ARM7TDMI enabled custom ASIC using the ARM Multi-ice, worked on project scheduling and also Configuration Management using SourceSafe and PerForce.

Worked on GPS/Glonass RTK OEM receiver. Including pseudrange positioning algorithms, measurement integrity checking, reference frame transformations and RTCM, RTCA and NMEA interfaces. Ported RTK integer search algorithm to a separate OEM board with VxWorks and a PowerPC processor.
