Rob is a highly skilled and accomplished Facilities Manager and Chief Stationary Engineer. He oversees facilities management for Central Connecticut State University with a workforce of over 100 employees, 38 buildings, 3.5 million square foot of space, power plant operations with 2.5 megawatts of power, chillers, a 1.4 megawatt fuel cell, and 13,800 volt distribution center with 2 miles of utility tunnels. Rob directs all facilities repairs, preventative maintenance, capital improvement projects, goundskeeping, contract management, fire/safety systems and participates in energy planning. While in this role, Rob has led and participated in major initiatives including decommissioning an old power plant and design/installation of a new plant. He spearheaded energy saving projects including fuel cells, LED lighting, new HVAC equipment with automated digital controllers, and plant installation of VFDs. Rob has achieved a large degree of success by recruiting and developing high performance teams, project management and supervision of all trades, uses goal setting and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), ongoing data collection/analysis to serve as a baseline for continuous quality improvement, and cross-functional team facilitation to build consensus and support for shared goals. In addition, Rob is a strong advocate of positive change, cost efficiencies, productivity improvement, safety, reliability, and lean operations. Rob never accepts mediocrity, or the status quo, choosing instead to raise the bar and pursue performance excellence. He received his training in the United States Navy serving in a power plant role, and earned the Battle-E Efficiency Award while serving on the USS Midway.
