Investigated user complaints and performance problems of the CBOEDirect electronic trading system. My detailed knowledge of the system from testing was extremely useful here. I gained an important perspective on the software development life cycle -- having been involved in the project from initial test design and then investigating its real-world problems as a mature, high-volume production system.I expanded many of the testing tools from my previous position to develop web-based support tools. I developed automated monitoring tools and daily report generation tools using Python, Django, and Matplotlib.In June 2004, I setup the first wiki on the company intranet for easy maintenance of documentation by the support team. This became very popular and was later expanded for use by many different groups within the company.

Created and used automated testing tools for the CBOEDirect electronic trading system, which was a new development at the time, and later became a very successful trading platform. You gotta love a job when your really good at it. I regularly reported more bugs than all of the other software testers in the company combined. Earned my QAI CSTE certification on the first try.

Hired by noted Software Testing author, Bob Binder to do SilkTest automation as part of a comprehensive testing framework for the new electronic trading system at the Chicago Board Option Exchange.The CBOE later converted me to a regular employee (see next position).

Used my previous experience with SCADA, HMI and PLC programming to test GE Fanuc's new products from the perspective of an "expert user". Picked up an new skill in the process, automated software testing.
