Ipsos Loyalty is a dedicated customer and employee satisfaction practice, providing qualitative and quantitative research as well as consultation and analytics to link satisfaction to business outcomes.Highlights in this role were opportunities to work with an electricity distributor in assessing response to trials of demand management strategies; and working on linking social media listening tools to more traditional survey based customer satisfaction research. Here I also rolled out ISO 20252 processes in the division, achieving certification in late 2010.

This was my introduction to market research: I joined at a ‘graduate trainee’ level, which was in essence putting numbers into PowerPoint presentations, and other equivalent work. By the time I left, I dealt directly with clients; proposed and executed research, and supported colleagues with conjoint analyses, among other quantitative techniques.

First as a contractor, then as a public servant, I worked at the Canada Site, the equivalent of the Australia.gov.au Web site. Here I managed the team tasked with editing, translating, (English to French and vice-versa) and proofing Web site content. This included escalating online enquiries from the public and media, both domestic and international. I also participated in selecting research agencies, tested online outreach and engagement tools, and developed the Canada Site’s draft Performance Measurement and Accountability Framework.
