Lead Hydraulics Engineer
Project Manager / Engineer
Lead Hydraulic Engineer
As the SBI Lead Hydraulic Engineer, I worked to advance their product portfolio with fresh new designs, improve existing designs, and re-source legacy product to local suppliers to support existing customers. I used my background in hydraulics to troubleshoot problems in the field, resolve long standing functional issues with product modification from the simple to complex, and create entirely new product for the next generation of equipment.
Project Manager / Engineer
At GEA I worked in the Cross Applications group where I supported the Dairy, Beverage, and Food groups in a wide variety of projects, functioning as Project Manager, Project Engineer, and Process Engineer depending on the needs of a given project. Liquid processing was often times the focus, but projects could be as diverse as industrial freezers, batching operations and packaging of liquids and powders, and filtration and/or separation of milk or other food or beverage ingredients. It was at GEA that I further developed contractor management skills, and spent some substantial time with onsite commissioning, one of my favorite parts of a project.
Lead Mechanical Engineer
While at Foth I broadened my knowledge of material handling and processing equipment, adding separators, slurry pumps, belt conveyors, dust control, and other handling and dispensing equipment to my portfolio. I also honed my research, leadership, and resource planning skills, lending assistance to the PM as the projects changed scope throughout the year due to shifting market conditions. Here I was introduced to and trained on the Design build and EPCM project models, and learned to work with several new engineering and science disciplines.
Lead Project Engineer
I joined SBI as a project engineer at its inception. Within 2 years I had gained thorough product knowledge and exhibited leadership potential, prompting creation of a new role to utilize my skills. As lead, I continued to execute projects while also overseeing those of the other engineers, created design standards and several families of new products, and trained and mentored new employees.•Supervised mechanical engineers and designers in project execution•Scheduled and prioritized engineering staff workload to meet project and production deadlines.•Interviewed and assisted in the selection of new engineering and design staff.•Led and executed complete projects in waste-water for wet and dry processing of bio-solids from conceptual design through start-up support and trouble-shooting.•Performed design and layout of de-watering and solids handling equipment, including screw presses and fluid bed dryers, screw conveyors, piston pumps and pipeline, hydraulic power units, storage silos, and other handling and dispensing equipment.•Designed hydraulic and pneumatic systems to control process equipment, utilizing various sensors, valves, and other control devices to automate and monitor equipment operation.•Assisted field service personnel by phone and on-site with trouble-shooting of new and existing equipment, field assembly issues, and start-up and commissioning.•Reviewed all drawings/BOMs/submittal/O&M documents prior to release or submission to the client.
Contract Design Engineer
While at Toro I worked with engineers and designers to update existing products lines to improve functionality, simplify assembly, and resolve manufacturing issues.
