Invented a new software product for performing aircraft predictive maintenance analysis, with five US patents (1 awarded, 4 pending) for co-inventing the underlying data science technology. Led the development of a proof-of-concept MVP for customer validation. Engaged with development partner customers to perform MVP trials and collect customer feedback. Developed the product requirements, and worked with the rapid development team to bring the concept into production. Created and managed the strategic product capability roadmap, and championed the adoption of Augmented Analytics in the Boeing Analytics Solutions product portfolio. Created and presented multiple webinars for Boeing customers about the new Insight Accelerator product.

Led the Data Science team in solving predictive maintenance challenge problems for airline customers using flight data analytics. Discovered multiple prognostic algorithms to provide advance warning of aircraft equipment failures, two of which have been deployed world-wide for the 787 fleet; created Boeing-internal Invention Disclosures as well as US patent applications. Worked with partner customers to test the operational deployment of prognostic algorithms, and achieved customer value by helping them avoid flight delays and disruptions. Developed a methodology for applying machine learning to aircraft flight data analysis in order to solve predictive maintenance problems; this methodology formed the basis for future commercial software product development. Presented at the 2018 Boeing Technical Excellence conference on the subject of applying machine learning for prognostic algorithm discovery. Presented to an international audience at the 2018 APAC MRO IT conference on how to use flight data analytics to achieve value for airline maintenance teams.

Led the analysis and simulation of next generation Surveillance of Space as well as optical Earth-imaging system performance through R&D projects. Designed and implemented machine learning solutions to improve space surveillance image data processing capabilities for improved mission performance. Presented to international audiences on the design of surveillance of space systems, including the US Air Force Space Command, the US Federal Aviation Administration, the international Small Satellite Conference, and the Canadian Embassy in Washington, DC.

Developed solutions to improve Sapphire Surveillance of Space system performance, including enhanced object position accuracy determination, heightened sensitivity for detection of dimmer space objects, and increased operational throughput in terms of number of objects imaged per day. Designed and prototyped a machine learning classifier using neural networks to solve the problem of automated signal classification in Surveillance of Space imagery. Performed non-linear regression analyses on large space surveillance observation datasets to improve sensor calibration and reduce errors in reported object positions. Developed innovative techniques for in-orbit management of space camera performance, including the use of periodic bakeouts to alleviate radiation damage in the CCD detector.

Chief Systems Engineer responsible for the end-to-end technical performance of a complex Space Mission development project valued at $80M. Defined all the system-level requirements and analyzed end-to-end performance through the development of simulation models. Used big data analysis techniques to verify in-orbit performance post launch. Led the System Commissioning phase to achieve in-orbit certification of the system by the Canadian Department of National Defence and the US Air Force Space Command, culminating in the successful transition to routine operations.

Lead system engineer for the development of a complex, mission critical satellite system with subcontract value >$100M. Developed the system-level requirements for the spacecraft bus. Analyzed bus system performance, and defined the technical performance measures; tracked the TPMs throughout development. Worked with the subcontractor to resolve technical compliance problems; led formal design reviews and verification reviews with the subcontractor, culminating in successful spacecraft bus system delivery and acceptance. Performed spacecraft-level analyses and defined the requirements for the Phase A/B studies of the next generation Radarsat Constellation Mission (RCM).
