Just over 33yrs at previous company, last 24 years of that working across the UK as a breakdown engineer on m/c's ranging from £70k to £2,000,000. Daily basis, typical m/c I'd visit would range between £300k - £500k. At one of the biggest CNC machine tool manufacturers in the world.I did get involved with a lot of s/w too, operational, NC control s/w, PLC's, safety PLC's, full CNC main spindles servo & auxiliary drive s/w or firmware, FPGA software, 3rd party s/w. OK, stripping, rebuilding pc's, fault finding to component level, including upgrading components, or s/w. Fully conversant with scopes, test meters etc.Also performed a range of mech jobs including replacing, re-aligning spindles, stripping, rebuilding, re-aligning turrets, tailstocks, NC rotary & tables, tool changer systems, pallet changers, etc.Never got simple jobs! More complex the fault, the better! AND, I always look to see what caused that fault, & usually I'd find a second fault being the cause, and so-on.First job, maintenance engineer at the 2nd biggest abattoir in Europe, where I was initially a breakdown engineer. The welding I learnt was my during my first job, (plus a little training at college prior to this first job). I was part of an 11 man maintenance team, & was the only one that could weld proficiently to a very high standard. Give me a single, or 3 phase welder, (MIG welding ally is my strong point) spool of aluminium wire, bottle of argon, & I'll put a lot of welders to shame! (I can arc weld to a high standard too).So, I was given my own workshop where I had to design & build my own jig/fixture to manufacture 200 aluminium tall-boy trollies, 6' tall, 18" wide, 2'6" long, each with 5 shelves, all aluminium construction, aluminium plates welded to the bottoms to mount nylon castor wheels. All totally, seamless welding. The welding had to be to a very high standard, quality had to be medical grade/food grade standard, (for obvious reasons) and designed for easy cleaning, as the trollies were used to store meat in blast freezers at -38 degrees.Also responsible for breakdowns on the line.Education;GCSE or equivalent - various fileds. Various courses at college, including mech engineering, B-TECH level 4 electronic instrumentation & control, a little training on hydraulics & pneumatics to plc level, but dropped out of that to concentrate on computer programming, & electronics. Stripping/rebuilding, increasing memory capacity, installing more powerful graphics & sound cards, along with formatting, loading software, then updating it, on computers. Bromsgrove college.
