I have performed various roles as a demonstrator for several physics and mathematics papers during my time studying at the University of Otago. These include supervising during laboratory sessions, running workshops, marking assignments and running help rooms. A significant portion of contact time is spent explaining physical concepts to students. The papers I have been involved with in this capacity are: Mathematics 1 (MATH160); Mathematics 2 (MATH170); Biological Physics (PHSI191); Electromagnetism and Optics (PHSI232); Quantum, Atomic, and Particle Physics (PHSI331).

I spent 3 months working as a research assistant in the quantum theory group. The time was spent further developing work done for my Masters and preparing a manuscript for publication.

During secondary school and university breaks I would generally travel to either Haast, South Westland or Twizel, South Canterbury (both New Zealand) and work in a variety of roles for Ecological Contracting Services Ltd (ECS). The work undertaken was generally very physical and took place in or around native bird sanctuaries, often involving long days walking through forest, at times with no cut track. Most frequently I would walk through a designated area of forest to check and set pest traps. Other roles included laying out and setting up rodent lines before and after poison operations, cutting tracks, and bait preparation. Parts of this work also gave me experience in driving all-terrain vehicles.
