I manage Vera C. Rubin Observatory's Xerox DocuShare digital document repository. I am in my 13th year performing these duties for Rubin (formerly LSST).Following organizational policies, funder requirements and federal regulations, I evaluate, collect, classify, categorize and maintain the integrity of documentation archived in DocuShare. To ensure that integrity, I chair the observatory's Change Control Board that accepts new documents, approves revisions to existing documents and exercises version control to ensure users access the correct, current approved versions of documents they need. I also co-chair the Documentation Working Group that develops policies and procedures best on organizational needs and best practices.A significant part of this role involves customer service. In addition to providing users with guidance and assistance in accessing documentation, I liaise with funding agencies' representatives, oversight committees and other stakeholders.Before working a Rubin, I earned a master’s degree in Information Resources and Library Science from the University of Arizona. During the degree program, I interned with the Illinois Historic Preservation Agency, where I processed a disorganized and uncatalogued collection of paper records, photographs and three-dimensional objects donated by the Vachel Lindsay Association.Lastly, I am a writer and editor for both Rubin and my outside interests, some examples of which can be seen at my website www.robertmckercher.com.
