CurrentAt Wegmann, I supervise all engineering activities for a product line of wheel balance weights, including tooling and equipment design specifications and procurement, customer (Ford, GM, Chrysler, Nissan, and Toyota) testing, initial production for PPAP, and final product launch. I have designed and built a new production line and installed manufacturing capability in our China facility within budget and on time. Some key achievements include:- Managing CAD system and file sharing with original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). I also control internal file structure and revision of engineering change notices (ECNs). - Developing and implementing quality assurance improvements, reducing scrap, increasing overall equipment effectiveness (OEE), and cutting operating costs. - Administering a capital improvement budget of $3M to $5M annually, justifying capital expenditures, managing timelines, and preparing regular reports for C-level management. - Mentoring a staff of design and process engineers, engineering technicians, and tool room technicians, coordinating work flow and prioritizing and delegating tasks. Administered corrective actions as necessary. - Liaising with North American OEM customers on product issues, negotiating problem resolution, and reporting results to C-level management. - Coordinated relocation of company into new facility $150k under budget and three weeks ahead of schedule without interrupting production or delivery schedules. Cut annual shipping costs by more than $500K/year, consolidating operations and logistics into one facility.
