Tahoma School District serves approximately 7,900 students in grades pre-K-12 in and around Maple Valley, WA, a suburban community (24,000 population) in Southeast King County, about 30 miles southeast of Seattle. Tahoma School District is recognized as innovative in its development and use of curriculum. Test scores indicate that Tahoma students are among the state’s top 10 percent, on average.I primarily taught American history classes, but also did some current events, political science and psychology. My main goal was to engage individuals in a subject (history) that most of them did not want to learn about. I used creative presentations, videos, mock trials, etc. to engage these students. I was also a lead in the districts technology initiative.I was also the head boys basketball coach during this time. I helped lead the Bears to the 4A district tournament for only the 2nd time and coached multiple players who played college basketball. I oversaw a staff of 3 and a program of 45 kids.

I worked as a video coordinator/graduate assistant under Lorenzo Romar for the U of Washington mens basketball team. My primary duties included: editing game and practice film, coordinating film exchange with other colleges and universities, breakdown drills in practice, scouting, assisting in the recruiting process and helping facilitate travel. I also helped support the Lorenzo Romar Basketball Camps from 2002-2005.
