Sr. Software Engineer
We provide Identity Access Management via card readers. Our readers include the ability to read secure encrypted data segments with symmetric keys. Most of my work is in embedded C/C++ on a 128 KB microcontroller with 32 KB of RAM. Became familiar with the USB protocol (HID devices). Developed a PC app using something better than C-flat (see the "About" summary above) to communicate with the devices over Ethernet. Created a little utility using a language that starts with Py and ends with 'thon' and have also used AutoIt (probably not a lot of search hits for that).
Embedded Software Engineer
C code for embedded devices assisting the railroad industry. Went to customer sites for system install & road tests in railroad maintenance vehicles. First software job I have had that required a hard hat. Small company, so I wrote system requirements, test plans, support software and even the PCB test procedure. Modified code in something better than C-flat to produce *.xlsx file output in a readable format and a *.kml file for a Google Map overlay as a fun diversion.
Software Engineer
Embedded C++ development using INTEGRITY RTOS on next-generation defibrillator and monitoring unit. Did the full lifecycle, start to finish, for Class III medical device (highest level in FDA). Primarily worked on the critical heart defibrillator and pacing controller, also did the board startup (bootstrap) code.
Software Engineer
Worked on something like period-Net (see Summary) for "embedded" XP on displays for roulette wheels. Traveled to London to represent company at trade show. Sorry, no Easter eggs to control the payout....
Software Engineer
(Division was purchased from Zenith, Motorola's purchase had no effect... until they closed down our whole unit) : Developed software for set-top-boxes, specifically QAM and QPSK transmission of cable, microwave and satellite television signals. Used DBS and MPEG-2 data standards. Embedded C code, using uCOS and OS-9 RTOS's, and some UML architecture and design work for new C++ project. One of the best organized software development systems I've ever worked in.
Software Engineer
Network Systems Group was sold to Motorola (actually GI, which simultaneously became the BCS branch in Motorola). See job description under Motorola heading.
Software Engineer
Worked in Otis Elevator division, on the REM 2000 project (Remote Elevator Monitoring). Some PC-based GUI work, mostly embedded C programming. Contract position.
Software Engineer
(Recon/Optical is now Goodrich ISR Systems) Embedded software for control of airborne cameras (C, RTOS) and land-based image analysis (C, Unix). High-speed (for the time) data transmission of sensitive information. Worked on early Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV). Traveled to Singapore to represent company and set up trade booth at the 2006 Singapore Air Show.
Software Engineer
C programming (some Ada), airborne intelligence gathering of electronic information. (E-Systems is now part of Raytheon). Also known as Bert during this time (last half of Robert, nickname from college).
