About Rob Peeters
I have over 9 years of experience in the news industry, having spent the majority of that time with the Indianapolis Star and the Gannett/USA Today Network. In 2018, I earned my bachelor's degree in journalism from IUPUI with minors in communications and motorsports studies. During my college years, I spent time freelancing for various news outlets covering both high school sports and motorsports. After graduating, I continued to work with the Indianapolis Star as a sports clerk where I designed the agate page on a daily basis while continuing to cover high school sports and motorsports, like the Indianapolis 500. In 2022, I moved to the Midwest Digital Optimization team with Gannett and the USA Today Network. I worked with all Gannett-owned newspapers across Indiana, Kentucky, and Illinois. My time with Gannett ended in December 2022 after company-wide reductions in staff. Since June 2023, I have been a digital desk editor for WTHR-TV, marking my career’s evolution into television news. I am multi-talented in the news industry. I am digital savvy with experience in SEO, social media strategy, and content production. On the print side, I also have some design experience. As a writer, I have several years of experience covering motorsports and high school sports and have developed a loyal following of readers.
Listed skills include Journalism, Social Media, Microsoft Word, Sports Writing, and 34 others.

Indycar And Imsa Writer
Motorsport Illustrated is a startup online news publication spearheaded by Bryce Choquer of Choquer Creative. I was brought on to help build the website into a respectable news source for motorsport. I currently cover IndyCar and IMSA while occasionally helping out with Formula 1 coverage.
Digital Producer
During my short time as a digital producer for Gannett’s now-defunct Midwest Digital Optimization Team, I worked with Gannett’s 11 Indiana-based newspapers/digital news outlets. My job was to optimize all incoming content for the fast paced news industry. I worked with all types of news, be it breaking, feature, sports, or opinion content. When working.
Sports Clerk
As a sports clerk, I wore a variety of hats. I designed the sports agate page in the Indianapolis Star on a part-time basis from 2015-2020. After sports resumed from their COVID break, I designed the sports agate page almost every day of the calendar year. In addition to my agate duties, I also covered high school sports and motorsports events. In most.
Motorsports Feature Writer
As a freelancer for the Journal Review, I wrote a series of feature stories on a local dirt track, Ben Hur Speedway. I photographed and edited photos for the story myself when writing this series.
May Madness Contributor
Wrote feature stories on the lifestyles of Indianapolis 500 drivers.
High School Sports Writer
Covered high school sports in Hendricks County, Indiana. I wrote about all types of sports from seven different schools across the county. Unfortunately, clips are unavailable as the publication closed in May 2019.
Sports Columnist
I wrote my opinions on auto racing, the Indianapolis Colts, Indiana Pacers, Indy Fuel, and other Indianapolis Sports plus motorsports. My columns were featured online for IUPUI's student newspaper, The Campus Citizen.
Team Member
Front counter. I took orders, backed up the fryer, and cleaned the dining room/restrooms.
Motorsports Beat Writer
Through the help of Malcolm Moran, I covered the Grand Prix of Indianapolis and all events leading up to and including the Indianapolis 500.
