A previous Investigation and Assessment Child Safety Officer with Forest Lake Child Safety Service Centre, I worked in the Placement Services Unit since 2015. I was in charge of leading the Residential and CRC-PAS team managing a regional office team of Child Safety Officers. I have worked as the Senior Advisor to the Regional Director, Brisbane Region Child Safety, and for Practice Advice and Support (Practice Connect branch), a small state-wide team offering complex case advice and practice support to Child protection practitioners both within the department, across departments, and in the non-government sector. As a Senior Child Safety Officer working for the Practice Response Team, I now travel the state offering mentoring and coaching to staff and working with identified Child Safety Service Centres around urgent and emergent needs. I returned to Australia in 2014 after a sabbatical, living and working in Edinburgh, Scotland. During this time, I was the General Manager of one of the largest backpackers’ hostels in Edinburgh and spent time traveling all around Europe, living in Spain, as well as assisting to run a hotel on the west coast of Morocco. I undertook General Management of this 156 bed Backpackers Hostel whilst living abroad in Edinburgh, Scotland. I was required to manage an average of 25 cleaning and reception staff including all new staffing decisions, timetables, payroll, etc. Ensured that the hostel continued to generate profit, maintain a high standard of cleanliness, staff friendliness and efficiency, whilst sustaining the reputation as one of the top hostels in Edinburgh.
