Developed a product / asset traceability system with a supplier. Developed budget proposal and created a new supply chain QA team. Contract extended three times.

Long contract at Rolls-Royce, Derby, as Process Consultant, rewriting key parts of the global quality management system across all sectors (civil and military aerospace, marine and nuclear, plus repair services) to satisfy CAA & FAA, ISO9001 and AS9100 requirements. The task required working across the whole company to write, obtain agreement and implement improved processes and procedures Topics covered were production & inspection processes, the design of components and the design of production & inspection methods, FMEAs, APQP, FAIRs, control plans, calibration & records management. These procedures affect over half the 50,000+ R-R employees. Contract extended eight times. The work required an understanding of existing procedures and associated documents, which vary substantially across the 150+ production and repair units around the globe. It involved running workshops, drafting new documents and communicating with key people in all areas of the company, achieving written procedures that are clear, effective and lean, and are agreed as being applicable across all these operating units. Extensive use of hyperlinked documents. Ensured that the procedures provide full compliance with many external regulations, and assisted with gap analysis, implementation plans and design and delivery of training to manage the transition from the old procedures to the new. The work required great attention to detail, an understanding of different requirements across the company, and knowing how to work with people to get agreement. Responded to feedback about content, implementation and updates.

Company was paid by the government to get people into jobs. The Region had 22 offices and 20 contracts of 10 different types, including the mainstream Flexible New Deal contract. The Region employed 340 people. The job involved working with both staff and management on quality principles, processes and systems, making quality understood and effective in the business. Training and workshops have been delivered at all levels, including Quality Champions in all the offices. The role included improving customer service and supporting the large number of partners and subcontractors. WorkP1 of 3 continued...was done on quality in new contracts, including new processes and software. Process maps were developed with many improvements. Quality Improvement Plans and Self-Assessment Reports were actively reviewed and used to drive improvement with staff delivering regular updates. I have played a leading role in external audits and reviews by the DWP. I have managed regional audits under ISO9001, matrix, Ofsted and BS8555 (sustainability) and contributed to the development of the company Quality Standard which draws these various requirements together into one document. The region delivered the best results with the best quality in the company.
