Oversee the operations of Emergency Services

Primary duties are to review and process medical insurance claims. Priorities are to ensure that the claims meet the following contractual specifications such as financial calculations being accurate, all payments are correct and the appropriate protocols are met to ensure prompt payment. Also responsible for meeting daily goals regarding the number of claims process and finalized. Requirements include knowledge of HIPAA security laws, medical terminology, company client's processing protocols, contract interpretation and limits of the processing software.

Managed the Wal-Mart accounts in the general Knoxville metropolitan area. Assisted department mangers with inventory management, floor planning and setting up displays. Responsibilities included pricing product, setting up shelf plans, stocking inventory, taking inventory, assisting customers and reporting progress to department managers as well as Acosta Unit Director.

Helped purchase and run a dental laboratory. The lab manufactured and delivered crowns, bridges, dentures and provided consultation to dental practices. Doubled sales and 2 years. Established a niche in Southwest Florida by providing CAD/CAM posterior and anterior crowns specializing in Zirconia (ceramic) teeth. Set up the business under a new name, purchased office space, hired staff, established strategic plan, budget and implemented marketing and sales efforts in Florida and East Tennessee.

Oversaw the operations of a social service organization with 250 employees. Responsibilities included oversight of an adult foster care model servicing individuals that were dually diagnosed with mental retardation or pervasive developmental disability along with either an Axis I or II mental health diagnosis. Most of the individuals served had a heavy forensic background. As the Director of Operations, oversaw the following departments; Human Resources, Clinical Behavioral Health, Nursing/Medical, Vocational Rehabilitation, Training and Quality Assurance. Other responsibilities included building and improving relationships with funding sources and looking for growth opportunities.

Responsible for the marketing, sales and instruction for multiple training venues. Oversaw the growth of the business for the local franchise area. This included handling existing accounts, bringing in new business through direct sales and implementing a marketing plan. Also provided presentations in the community for various business and organizations selling specific training workshops. Administered and instructed the various courses which cover topics such as leadership/management skills, human relations, communication, managing stress in the workplace and self-confidence. Additional responsibilities included strategic planning, hiring support staff, overseeing financials and coordinating coaching assistants to support and assist with training instruction.

Responsible for the operations of the Knox Region within the Department of Children Service’s child welfare system. Oversaw 6 social service program areas and 6 administrative departments. The social service programs include Child Protective Services, Prevention Case Management, Juvenile Justice, Adoption Assistance, Custody Case Management (Foster Care) and Independent Living Case Management. Administrative oversight included Fiscal Management, Human Resources, Legal, Quality Improvement, Management Information and Community Development. Worked at the discretion of the Commissioner of DCS. Primary responsibility of the Knox Region was to determine if children needed to come into the custody of the state due to neglect and/or abuse, ensure the safety and well-being of children and upon exiting custody; locate and secure a permanent family situation.

Owner and Operator of a manufacturer’s representative company specializing in commercial optics, including optical components, prototype and design services, sub-assembly and coatings. Represented family business; Ross Optical Industries out of El Paso, Texas.

Responsible for the operations and business development of an 8 million dollar, 501 (c) 3 non-profit, psychosocial rehabilitation agency that served the homeless and mentally ill. Oversaw 14 programs these program included mobile crisis, residential services, case management, outpatient psychiatric services and vocational rehabilitation. Assisted with strategic planning, budget preparation and implementation, community relations, grant writing and implementation, board updates and new program development.

Responsible for the leadership and direction of a half a million dollar 501 (c) (3), charitable organization whose mission is to ensure that the community has access to quality mental health services covering a 4 county area. Responsibilities include reporting to a board of directors, fundraising, strategic planning, budget planning and management, marketing, community relations and supervising patient service programs.

Oversaw the clinical programs within the organization serving individuals that suffered from severe and persistent mental illness. The clinical programs included traditional case management, assertive case management, partial hospitalization program, day treatment, outpatient psychiatric services, admissions as well as a consumer run day program. Ensured funding source relations were appropriate and assisted in obtaining agency wide certification.

Oversaw the administrative operations of a 22 bed, inpatient psychiatric unit within a 1000 bed inner city general hospital. Worked with staff to meet standards for Joint Commission. Helped create and manage an inter-disciplinary staff and 22 admitting physicians. Coordinated program activities and projects with other departments within the hospital, specifically regarding admissions emanating from the ED and medical/surgical floors.
