I believe that being honest, curious and fair to be important personal values. I enjoy learning from others and through experience, I understand that while I may empathise with those who have suffered inequality, I have never experienced it.Over the past 20 years I have been directly responsible for the strategic direction of Termate Limited, taking it from a company which completed a marginal amount of incidental export business to one where our export sales significantly exceed that of the home market. I have successfully lead the business though various technical and economical changes. I set up businesses in South Africa and Vietnam, which successfully achieved their strategic goals. I also formed the technical consultancy service, 3 Phase Design, which provides training and technical support to regional manufacturers to enable them to comply with international standards. I am a passionate, and direct individual who will confront a challenge or grasp an opportunity rather than watch it pass by.As a child I was diagnosed with dyslexia, however it was not until I was in my 50’s that I was also diagnosed with ADHD. Neither of these prevented me from achieving success in business nor personal life, however there have been occasions where they have provided additional hurdles to overcome. As an alumni fellow at Nottingham Trent University, Nottingham Business School, I have contributed to the development of future business leaders through workshops on managing risk and change, provided mentorship and guidance to aspiring entrepreneurs and enterprise students and actively engaged in various projects and lectures, sharing industry insights and practical experience.I am a specialist in the application of international and national product & testing standards and European directives, working with the complete supply chain to facilitate appropriate use of the standards. Though my activities in IEC & BSI technical committees, I am involved in setting industry standards for various electrical equipment. I represent the UK on international committees that develop these standards.On a personal note, I am an avid rock climber. I have climbed all over the world and hope to continue to develop my skills, strength and stamina to enable me to travel and climb the world’s best climbing areas.
