Scope: Develop a Strategic Plan for both companies. Review existing rep agents and develop target industries, call reports & market focus. Put together a marketing plan for each division and expand sales. Focus on the profitability of the Indianapolis facility. Accomplishments: The first target is to identify the issues at the Indianapolis facility. The facility has lost money for the last 4 years. Implementation of a Strategic Plan identified specific target industries that were focused on and within 90 days one industry, Z-mill bearing repair, production capacity was achieved. Additional equipment was order to overcome the bottleneck in that product line. The existing rep agents were examined and met with and their sales and targeting was reviewed. BMC/ BDS were not their focus and it was showing in productivity. Three rep agents were released, one was modified and an additional three were added to fill in gaps and target expansion. For the first five months, I spent most of my time in the Indianapolis facility evaluating their profitability. I identified the bottlenecks and looked at production efficiencies. Implementation of a new bin location system, part etching system, capacity utilization for the existing equipment and improved production planning. The result was improved output and reduced bottlenecks.

A specific OEM was targeted in the shredder industry (Strategic Focus), and sales were doubled from $125,000 to over $250,000. I was also instrumental in expanding the aftermarket business with the addition of new distributors and succeeded in getting our products into a major distributor’s computer system.
