I work within the Pilkington Planar™ Design & Development team. Pilkington Planar™ is a structural glass product specified by Architects to create open, attractive and sustainable buildings. My key responsibilities include:- Working with Architects, taking concept designs and producing working proposals - Capturing requirements to develop product specifications- Working with Business development to tender new projects- Ensuring designs meet relevant standards- CAD modelling, AutoCAD, Inventor- FEA of glass / steel components, Ansys, Lusas - Reviewing customer drawings to determine suitability of façade designMy role also includes developing the system and improving the design & manufacturing processes. My key responsibilities include:- Testing of new products, prototyping & testing- Developing design procedures, e.g. non-linear FEA models- Improvement of manufacturing processes, testing & implementation- Technical report writing

Since completing their graduate scheme I successfully delivered a number of design packages including the design of bespoke lifting equipment and mechanical handing equipment. Working alone and as part of a team on various aspects of the design. Key responsibilities:- Production of GA, fabrication & detail drawings using Autodesk Inventor & AutoCAD- Production of stress analysis calculations- Compiling Technical File documentation for legislation compliance

After graduating university, I started on the Graduate scheme at Cavendish Nuclear. As part of this scheme I completed several placements as well as a Professional Development Programme to gain a wide range of experience, including:- A secondment to Trawsfynydd decommissioning site in north Wales to complete the active commissioning of an effluent treatment plant - Design of a bespoke eductor system, used to remove radioactive biological material that had settled within a legacy fuel storage pond, including reviewing and updating the P&ID schemes.- Producing calculation documents for several mechanical structures, including lifting equipment, ensuring they met relevant legislation- Supporting the capability team, producing technical files required for equipment to be CE marked under the Machinery Directive
