I currently work as a consultant in the biomarker space providing expertise with discovery, development (both scientifically and commercially), clinical validation (retrospective studies) and study design (prospective studies). My 20 years of experience has included chief executive officer, chief biotechnology officer, head of data science, and over five years of consulting. Commercial products that have I developed include:• DetermaIO for identifying patients with increased efficacy when treated with immune checkpoint inhibitors.• Mammostrat for identifying ER+ breast cancer patients treated with anti-hormonal therapy who have similar outcomes to those patients who have been treated with both anti-hormonal therapy and chemotherapy.• TLE3 which identifies increased efficacy among patients treated with taxanes. I am the author of dozens of peer reviewed publications in the biomarker space, and the holder of 13 patents, with several more pending.Brief Work HistoryFrom January 2020 to January 2023, I served as of Head of Immune Oncology for Oncocyte, Incorporated, preparing DetermaIO for launch into the clinic. From 2015 to January 2020 I served as a been a partner in Bethesda Consulting which provided assistance in every facet of the biotechnology industry—business strategy, commercial execution, business development, product development, company culture, and deal structuring. From 2013 to 2019, I was affiliated with Insight Genetics, Inc. serving as both Chief Technology Officer and, in 2019, interim CEO. While at Insight, I co-developed their two key products, Insight Genetics TNBCType and Insight Genetics IOType (later rebranded to DetermaIO). I helped to facilitate the sale of Insight Genetics to Oncocyte in January of 2020.From 2010 until 2012, I served as Senior Vice President of Clarient, Inc., a GE company, as a result of Clarient acquiring Applied Genomics, Inc. (AGI). Previously I served as Chief Executive Officer of AGI from 2000 to 2009 where I was a co-founder. As CEO, I was responsible for fundraising, executing company strategy. From 2008 to 2009, I executed AGI’s exit strategy which led to merger with Clarient. In 2010, I was instrumental in Clarient's acquisition by GE Healthcare. In 1992, I founded the antibody department at Research Genetics and served as its director from until the founding of AGI in 2000. I have extensive expertise in in antibody development and characterization. I have a B.S. degree in Chemistry from the University of South Alabama and a M. Div. degree from Fuller Theological Seminary.
