Counterpoint provides detailed research reports on aerospace and defence markets - my focus is on the aircraft interiors segment. Our various standard reports analyse markets at a global level, with a particular emphasis on Tier 1 and Tier 2 suppliers. Reports are based on industry discussions, data analysis and extensive in-house modelling, and our own extensive experience in the aerospace & defence industry. The aircraft interiors report is issued annually, in December, with the 2023 edition running to some 680 pages, covering each aircraft interiors commodity and profiling 159 leading companies. Counterpoint also carries out bespoke consultancy projects specialising in deep dives into markets and products, strategy and competitive assessment, and market due diligence for M&A.

I run my own business which provides specialist programme management & business consultancy and support for aircraft interior acquisitions for commercial airlines and operators. I work for airlines to ensure they get what they want for their aircraft.Recent projects include:• Finnair "Falcon": Project management of new business class, premium economy and economy seat acquisition for upgrade of Finnair long haul fleet (A330 & A350).• United Airlines "Polaris": supporting United on-site at Safran Seats UK with design issues and "finding ways" to get seats delivered for B767, B777 and B787 aircraft.• Jet Airways (India) Ltd: programmes included cabin definition and seats acquisition for 81 737 MAX aircraft and reconfiguration projects for existing B777 and A330 fleet aircraft. This built on earlier Jet Airways work on cabins for new A330 and B777 aircraft.• AirTanker, UK: defining, establishing and managing delivery of a programme to provide a "premium" cabin for A330 MRTT use by senior UK Government officials and members of the UK Royal Family.

Start-up company with a truly unique flood barrier fencing product manufactured from wood polymer composite material. The material has been developed from recycled waste plastics; product manufacture is in China.

Charged with leading the Project Management team in delivering 20 engineering development programmes for aerospace and land systems (armoured car) customers. As the business grows, more complex systems are being contracted. • Ran a £40m turnover business supplying casing, ring and solid fan blade forgings the Aerospace, Industrial Gas Turbine and Oil and Gas customers. Based in Blaenavon, South Wales. • Delivered significant returns, including target profit, despite the recession causing a sales cut of 25%, through major cost control and focusing on delivering bottom line improvements. • Improved on-time-in-full delivery from 40% to more than 85% by driving operational discipline and lean manufacturing and addressing restrictive historical attitudes and approaches that were embedded in the culture.

• Contour - Engineering and Programmes DirectorOne of four reporters to the Managing Director of this £120m turnover business, responsible for engineering and project management of all Contour New Product Introduction development programmes up to and including first ship-set delivery; with more than 35 programmes in delivery ranging from £250k to £12m. Led a staff of circa 200 Engineering, Certification and Programme Management permanent and contract staff. • Contour - Business Unit Director Grew Business Unit from zero to £68m turnover in 2 years, by winning new business, developing customer relationships, establishing a capable team and delivering programmes; ultimately generating 40% better than committed business returns – the best in Contour.

Culminated a 21 year career at Rolls-Royce as Director of Helicopter Engines, following positions in programme management, operations and production, change management facilitation, marketing, assembly workshop management and test facilities management. Key elements of my last role included:• Full P&L accountability; accountable for delivering the sales, profit and customer satisfaction of a business with £100m turnover in Defence, and £10m in Corporate Aircraft. Responsible for 5 engine products ranging from new product development & certification through to 40 year old “cash cows” with strong spares and support sales. Defence customers included the UK MoD, AgustaWestland, Eurocopter & 16 armed forces around the world.• Directing the underwriting of sales campaigns and directing the planning and delivery of the business for the 270+ directly engaged employees and key subcontractors, developing the strategy, managing risks, executing programmes and planning & delivering novel tailored long-term support packages.
