As Public Relations Chair, I am responsible for increasing the profile of the Barrie Literacy Council and our work with adults who want to improve their basic reading, writing and math skills. I have been involved in adult literacy in Barrie since 1996. I originally trained as a volunteer tutor, but was asked to join the board of directors of the Council to replace the retiring PR Chair. Since then, I have held a number of positions on the board including Vice-Chair and Board Chair. These positions have given me an opportunity to be involved with a number of key organizational activities including fund-raising, strategic planning and staff-board liaison.
