Successful in the award and delivery of a £11 mill contract for a cross country pipeline. This contract was a target cost contract with associated KPIs, this will be closed out with a margin enhancement and a gain pot. Overall responsibility for ensuring that forecast budgets are correct and up to date by the management of variations to projects and ensuring that recovery has taken place wherever possible.Managed and coordinated large bid teams responsible for commercial aspects of major project tender bids, reviewing contracts, compiling risk registers, liaising with design team, value engineering, drafting sub-contract ITT’s, compiling pricing documents, activity schedules and milestone payments.Key contact for a number of Developers, able to be called upon and resolve issues by liaising and supporting member of the Veolia Team.

Overall responsibility for ensuring that forecast budgets are correct and up to date by the management of variations to projects and ensuring that recovery has taken place wherever possible.Project managed the operational demobilisation of the framework contractor and the mobilisation of the new incumbent to provide a seamless transition for customers and the business as a whole.With provision of financial data and QS support, completed an exercise to recover outstanding electric and gas asset values of over £4 million.Instrumental in successfully concluding several claims from contractors and commercial settlements with clients. Responsible for the provision of contractual and commercial support to all parts of the business and acting as an intermediary between the business and legal departments in order that the business can make informed decisions during bid, tender stages and post contract award.

Protected the commercial viability of the business with respect to contract and financial management to maintain or enhance wherever possible, overall margin.Introduced and implemented financial governance and processes to manage and protect the forecast positions of projects.Written a bespoke contract for the multi-utility business with a condensed set of rates that enabled quicker tender estimates to be produced, improved service delivery and reduced contention with the contractor.Project managed the tender, procurement and award of a framework agreement, (value of £35 mill), during which time successfully negotiating tendered prices down from an initial increase of 27% to just 6.7%.

Member of a larger project team, (seconded as commercial representative of the business), implementing a SAP IT system with a budget of £27 mill. The role was to ensure that the system would deliver governance in line with financial and commercial requirements. My largest output provided the full integration of Design and Bid within the SAP system. This has produced a more robust platform for bidding and financial reporting and provides greater data integrity

Carried out a detailed financial review of 198 projects, with a value of over £90 mill. To complement this introduced processes that ensured financial governance was applied to projects during their lifetime. Introduced and managed project closure processes, making any accruals and financial adjustments where required. This led to margin improvement and a contribution of over £3 mill to the P&L account.Played a key role in the implementation of SAP for the Connections business. The role was assistant to the Project Manager. This gave a detailed understanding of SAP.

Managed contracted labour to provide a fit for purpose multi-utility infrastructure. Provided gas related technical support to existing United Utilities’ staff and contractors. Coordinated and authorised gas connection operations.Ensured that the business achieved Lloyd’s accreditation for gas installation, for which an award from OFGEM was made.Project managed and coordinated the connections business to become the first company to make an intrusive connection to a live National Grid network.

Right First Time philosophy introduced to reinstatement process which resulted in a three year zero defects being issued by Oldham and Rochdale Traffic Authorities.Participation in incident management and co-ordination of materials and resources.Project management of various rehabilitation schemes and new build with projects of a value of between £20k - £1.2 mill. Participation in the management of resources for the provision of gas network activities in a most cost efficient way.
