Providing ongoing on-the job training and support for large offshore team.Supporting Firewall security for global application hosting environment, as well as Trading Partner access using various VPN solutions involving Public Internet and 3rd Party providers, centrally managed by Cisco Security Manager.Supporting internal users' internet access utilising Cisco Ironports.Supporting in-team monitoring solution using Cacti and ManageEngine Netflow.Troubleshooting user issues utilising tcpdump, captures and Wireshark where appropriate.Projects included:Upgrading all European firewalls from Nokias running Checkpoint to Cisco ASAs with minimal downtime.Involved in all phases from planning through to implementation in the disconnection of Jaguar LandRover and VolvoCars from Ford's network without affecting continuing business.Heavily involved in DataCentre Consolidation project whereby the European datacentres were closed, with all business transferred to the new Global datacentre over a multi-month period.

Founder member of new team which installed and supported Ford's new eBusiness European Hosting Network Infrastructure.Peak size of 16 Nokia Firewall Appliances running shared Checkpoint Firewall policies from version 4.0 through to R65 and Provider-1; with a variety of Cisco routers and switches from 25xx to 6500 running CATOS and IOS, Cisco Content Switches, Cisco and Juniper VPN Concentrators with SteelBelted Radius.Provided guaranteed resilient layer 2 and 3, 24x7 network service availability for 1000+ servers, running applications for Ford in Europe, as well as Jaguar, LandRover and VolvoCars globally.Part of 24x7 oncall support structure.Also supported the growing Extranet service, with multiple external ISP and VPN service providers, providing connectivity for in excess of 10,000 Trading Partners.Supported internal users' Internet access via NetAppliance Netcaches.Supported network-related applications running on Unix/Linux servers, including in-house designed FTP/LPD proxy servers and Mail Relay servers, utilising JXplorer LDAP browser.

New team of two providing Level 2 Support for Ford's newly launched Extranet service for Trading Partner network access. Supported ISDN, Leased Line and 3rd Party ISP connectivity solutions. Regular Service Reviews with external providers.

Part of team providing 24x7 cover for Ford's European Network Operations; onsite on 12 hour shifts. Utilising HP OpenView monitoring tool, managing Level 1 support of large Cisco-based LAN and WAN networks, and liasing with site contacts and Level 2 engineers.
