Began at Miller Waste Systems in 2007 as a traffic spotter at Georgina Transfer Station. I quickly learned how to operate the scales, loader, and compactor on the facility. Within 6 weeks, I began to move around to cover other locations - Bales Transfer (scales and spotting/compactor operator, and eventual loader operator), Earl Turcotte WMF (Spotter, Compactor Operator, Scales, Loader, Skid Steer).I witnessed a large change of staff and operations at the Georgina Transfer Station. Slowly I progressed into becoming the main Loader Operator for the site.I moved over to Miller Paving (Whitby, Uxbridge, Mossport, Richmond Hill, Markham yards) in 2009, as a floating operator. I utilized Loaders, Yard Trucks, Scales, Skid Steers, and worked solely at the plants creating the asphalt. When the paving season came to an end, I wished to continue working. I went back to my old boss and inquired regarding a position for the winter. He graciously offered me my old position for the time being as it had not been filled.When I returned to Georgina, I began utilizing some of the knowledge I had gained while on paving and created some changes of my own. in March of that year, my current Miller Waste manager asked me if I would like to stay with Waste on the Georgina location. As it was closer to my house, I accepted.A few months after accepting the position back in Georgina, I became Lead Hand. A job I was already doing, but had no recognition for it.As the years progressed, Lead Hand became Site Supervisor. My staff compliment, at which one time was 2, was now at 7. The site had been reimagined in an engineers eye and we had to accommodate ourselves to the new facility. As these times progressed, I felt stagnant. I approached my managers and inquired about a larger role. Which they were more than willing to place me into. I then began supervising 2 other facilities under the same contract; Elgin Mills CEC in Richmond Hill, and McCleary Court CEC in Vaughan. I have since become a member of management, currently overseeing these same sites. To this day I continue to grow under Millers management team and assist other areas as I can. Miller has been a large part of my existence since I began with them, and I hope to be with them for many years to come.
