Rob has over 25 years of experience in stakeholder engagement, social impact assessment, multi-stakeholder facilitation, grievance redress mechanisms, and local/community capacity development training. He excels in managing the social and cultural repercussions of infrastructure and natural resource projects, anchoring his strategy in effective, meaningful engagement practices. Internationally, Rob’s works with private sector entities and international financial institutions (IFIs) to align social and environmental policies with the International Financial Corporation (IFC) Performance Standards, and the World Bank's Environmental and Social Framework (ESF).Rob has extensive experience conducting socio-economic assessments for a diverse array of projects including heavy oil developments, mines, power plants, transmission lines, and resort developments, Rob’s assessments range from comprehensive regional impacts to Indigenous community-focused wellness studies. Rob is also an experienced facilitator who has successfully managed and facilitated projects on behalf of multi-stakeholder organizations throughout Western Canada. His recent work has focused on empowering Indigenous communities, facilitating Indigenous-led engagement processes that amplify Métis and First Nation voices in development discussions on their lands. He has partnered with Métis Nations and various Indigenous communities, including the Coast Salish, Cree, Dene, and Blackfoot-speaking peoples. His respect for tradition is evident in his approach to Cultural Impact Assessments, SEIAs reviews for communities, Traditional Land Use Assessments, and the establishment of cultural monitoring programs.Internationally, Rob has worked directly with private sector and IFI clients to ensure social and environmental policy are in compliance with International Financial Corporation (IFC) Performance Standards, the World Bank's ESF. Some of the regions Robs has worked in include, Latin America with the World Bank, InterAmerican Development Bank and the CIDA on a variety of country specific and regional studies; in Central Asia with the United Nations Development Programme and the Global Environmental Facility on projects to develop biodiversity conservation programs by integrating the concerns of rural peoples in the design of conservation activities; and in Africa with the World Bank in Tanzania.
