Responsible for identifying, permitting and developing a portfolio of grid-scale and decentralised renewables and battery storage projects for the UK and Ireland energy markets. Business development activities included ground-mounted solar PV, onshore and offshore wind farms, energy parks, rooftop and private wire solar PV, battery storage, corporate PPA’s, green gas (hydrogen & biomethane) as well as developing other low carbon solutions for public and private sector customers across the energy vectors of power, heat and transport. Oversaw and managed a multi-disciplinary team of 'in-house' professionals specialising in the identification, design, planning and development of onshore wind energy and solar projects in the UK from land assembly through to construction and operation. During my time as MD, the business established an enviable track record of development success through its strategy of securing a pipeline of greenfield projects and forming joint ventures with key partners and investors to facilitate a 'develop and sell' business model which culminated in the WCE business being sold to GDF Suez/ENGIE in 2014. Managed and supported all aspects of onshore wind development delivery from site evaluation/design to securing planning permission, including land and grid connection agreements; overseeing the preparation of planning applications/EIA's; managing external development partners, environmental and technical consultants, land agents and lawyers and agreeing commercial terms.Successful onshore wind energy developments include:Cefn Croes Wind Farm, Ceredigion (58MW) - first UK wind farm to be granted s36 approval Rhyl Flats Offshore Wind Farm, North Wales (90MW) - consenting and sale
