My current role is as a full time Health and Safety Advisor for Adult Community Services involves providing advice and support to the adult care services delivering essential services to the most vulnerable people in the community. My remit includes domiciliary care workers, occupational therapists, social workers, mental health teams, Multi Agency Safeguarding Teams (MASH), adult learning, disability and sensory needs, safeguarding and care market inspection teams amongst others. I also cover my colleague who has gone into semi-retirement in Growth Highways and Infrastructure which is responsible for economic and industrial growth in Suffolk and includes highways, planning, waste and recycling and transport.

The graduate trainee scheme in Suffolk County Council is an internal, competitive programme for talented individuals designed to provide post graduate or professional training to bring in highly trained staff within the council. My current job role as a graduate trainee includes;Supporting senior management in implementing the organisations Health and Safety Strategy. As part of this strategy my job role includes being lead Health and Safety advisor for one of our Key Risks, 'Musculoskeletal Disorders.'​ Reporting directly to the Assistant Director lead.Developing and delivering in house health and safety training for line managers including our in-house 'Introduction to Health and Safety for Managers'​, 'Premises Management'​ training, and 'Risk Assessment' courses.Providing health and safety guidance and support for the management of our Occupational Health and Employee Assistance Programme contracts, identifying trends and hotspots for absence, stress and musculoskeletal disorders. Providing briefings and reports on progress and issues.Supporting and carrying out onsite premises audits for Asbestos, Legionella and Fire Risk Assessments on some of our premises. Reviewing our corporate policies, guidance and training.Recently I have also submitted our successful 2015 Rospa (Silver) Award Entry on behalf of Suffolk County Council.

On graduation I completed a number of temporary posts and some agency posts in a wide variety of sectors including general adminstration, (British Telecom and Havering Council adult social services) construction, (ISG Jackson) hotel and leisure (Devere Hotels) and most recently security (G4S, Evolution Security) my last role during this period was working as a Security Officer for G4S from 2010-2013. There were no employment gaps in this period as a 10 year checkable work history is required to hold an SIA licence.
