Senior EngineerPanasonic Apr 2017 - Nov 2018Kadoma-Shi, Osaka, JpMy years at Panasonic were a great experience in understanding real engineering rigour and turning around complex products in a highly regulated environment to tight timelines. My time there has changed forever how I look at decision making and quality in product development, learning from dozens of highly experienced engineers inside a development system matured over decades. Originally recruited to work within a newly created team to develop and launch a world first product. I also worked on model upgrades, process improvements, field failure issues and many other developments. I was privileged to be selected from a Europe wide pool to be part of a management development group where we undertook an 18 month program including a secondment to another Panasonic business. Through this I met and worked with some of the leading talent across Panasonic's European operations. An unforgettable experience and a great stepping stone into management. -

Working in the relentless, deadline-driven retail and marketing space, we had to juggle multiple simultaneous projects with unforgiving schedules. I learned how to refine highly efficient workflows and practices which both improved the quality of our work, and adhered to the complex requirements of retailers and our clients. Around 90% of projects we worked on would go into production, giving me a great foundation in all the skills needed to successfully manufacture and deploy products. My hunger for more technically detailed work eventually pulled me towards a change of industry, but the skills I learned in my first job still serve me well to this day.
