Oversaw economic development agency with a budget of $124 million and a staff of 275 employees. Reshaped the agency to focus and respond to the needs of the City's 200,000 small businesses. Reinvigorated the City's Business Improvement District (BIDs) and created 25 new BIDs. Created a commercial revitalization program with a focused on distressed communities and partnered with the Coro Foundation to build a leadership program for community-based organizations. Established seven NYC Business Solutions Centers with a focus on business courses and access to capital, securing more than $200 million for small businesses in the last six years. Led business recovery initiatives following Hurricane Sandy, overseeing efforts to disburse more than $20 million for businesses in impacted areas. Built a workforce system with a demand-driven, business focused approach that placed approximately 200,000 people in jobs through 17 workforce career centers. Improved the City's minority and women owned business program by creating new capacity building programs and increasing certification from 700 to nearly 4,000 participants.

Charlotte, North Carolina Area

Restructured the economic development organization to enhance vitality of the Center City in partnership with key business and government leaders. Initiated the award winning Center City 2010 Master Plan that was instrumental in significant private and public investment in the core of the City including more housing, retail development, a NBA basketball arena, a minor league baseball stadium, cultural facilities, a light rail line, parks, and open space. Initiated recruitment efforts that attracted Johnson & Wales University. Secured nearly funding to expand the Historic Charlotte Trolley and improve a free shuttle bus system to serve office workers, residents, and visitors. Created a new marketing and promotional arm of the organization to add festivals, farmers markets, and other activities.

Led two economic development organizations that provided planning , marketing, fundraising, park management, security, and sanitation services. Worked with government, business, and community leaders in creating a comprehensive neighborhood plan, new zoning regulations, and design guidelines that led to the renaissance of the 14th Street - Union Square area. Improved Union Square Park by raising private funds for maintenance and gardening, adding playgrounds, and signature events including Harvest on the Square and the Holiday Market. Led the community effort to build the Robert F. Kennedy Center which provides housing, educational and social services to more than 250 individuals. Created a nationally recognized Business Advisory Council at Washington Irving High School that added mentoring programs, scholarships, internships, and the wiring of the school for new technology.

Represented the Mayor's Office and provided performance monitoring and oversight of the Department of Personnel, Office of Municipal Labor Relations, Board of Elections, Bureau of Labor Services, and the Department of Records.

Directed nationwide recruitment , selection and placement of twenty Urban Fellows. Developed orientation, training, and weekly seminars in affiliation with NYU Wagner School of Public Administration and the City University of New York. Managed a private sector fundraising campaign that saved the program and eventually led to the full restoration of City funding for the program. Selected and placed summer interns in all city agencies through the Summer Management Program.
