Stanford Wellbeing is the only specialist care company for people with neurological illness or injury in the Southend area. Stanford Wellbeing can provide specialist Social worker and Occupational Therapy assessments as standard for each care assessment, which will enable a better detailed and more effective care plan. The intervention of both clinicians also ensures the high quality of the care through regular scheduled reviews and bespoke care training for all involved in a person’s care.

I have worked in health and social care for over 20 years and I have made a steady progression to the point where I was the highest grade practicing Occupational Therapist within South West Essex Community NHS Services. This meant that more of my time was taken with management rather than clinical input. For this reason I have left the NHS and moved into private practice as my passion lies with treating people and providing effective therapy. I have maintained some of my management duties in my role as Clinical Director for Plexus Healthcare and continue to assist with the development of students as a regular Guest lecturer for Essex University. However, I continue to practice as a Consultant Occupational Therapist For Essex Social Care, Essex Cares and Numerous private care agencies in order to continue completing the work I love.

To provide expert Occupational Therapy intervention, advice and support for patients within the first year of their CVA. As well as providing direct clinical intervention, to support acute and community staff working with people who have CVA’s. Supervising nine band 7 OT’s in the community and provide expert assessment and review for complex need patients following CVA and TBI. This role involved working with patients in acute hospitals, community hospitals, specialist rehab units, patient’s own homes and residential and nursing care facilities.

In this role I was the lead occupational therapist for the acute and rehabilitation stroke service in Basildon Hospital. This role involved working with people who experienced acute CVA’s and leading a team of specialist and basic grade OT’s, technical instructors and OTA’s to provide high quality intervention for both patients on the ASU (acute stroke unit) and SRU (stroke rehab unit).
