At 2ndWatch we launched a practice completely devoted to data engineering! Hired a few amazing people and did some great jobs for large enterprises in retail and manufacturing.

Having worked with AWS for several years, I became fascinated by the cloud. You rent servers from someone else, and every day those servers do more and more for you. AWS is constantly moving companies "up stack". If you're not moving with them, you're paying too much and you're losing out on rich opportunities. This job at Cloudreach exposed me to thousands of architecture solutions, hundreds of companies, and dozens of industries in North America, England, and Germany. I completely fell in love with data and the power of restoring order and reality to a company's operations.Met tons of great people and it's so cool to see them growing in their cloud careers too.It was here that I decided to commit my career to unlocking the power of data with the cloud.

Raised capital, hired 15 engineers and designers, and brought a cloud-based communications product to market.

Built a Bingo app (Ruby on Rails).Built a product that automated communications between speech therapists and their patients (Ruby, Twilio)Javascript (Node, React) and Python.AWS (Lambda, DynamoDb, S3, Lex).Machine learning: Keras & Pytorch (text classification, image recognition)

The earthquake and tsunami that crippled the Fukushima nuclear power plant in Japan was one of the largest news events of 2011. I played a role in the technical defense of a GE reactor design in front of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission.Visited Tokyo twice and was humbled by the gravity of the professionalism of the Japanese engineers.

I served as an officer on a giant nuclear submarine, and was the top-ranked Junior Officer.
