Rob’s focus at Renteria Vineyard Management is twofold, including both the development of new vineyards as well as the irrigation and fertility management for nearly two thousand acres of premium Napa Valley vineyards. Designing or re-designing vineyards from the ground up, Rob works with clients to determine everything from rootstock, clone and plant selection to row orientation, trellising and irrigation systems. He also manages all irrigation and fertilizer decisions that are custom crafted to reach the exact desired outcome of each individual vineyard block utilizing data compiled from weather stations, soil moisture probes and many other emerging technologies.During his time at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, where he relieved his B.S. in Environmental Science and a Minor in Soil Science, Rob took a dive into the wine industry working as a wine maker intern at Tolosa Winery. After graduating college, Rob was given the opportunity to move to the famed wine region of Napa Valley and accepted an internship with Duckhorn Vineyards. During his time with Duckhorn, he discovered that the best wines in the world all made in the vineyards, not the wineries. With the new goal of discovering the finest fruit, he made the move to the world of soil and vines and began working at Stagecoach Vineyard, a unique a rugged vineyard filled with seventeen different wine grape varietals located at the top of the famed Atlas Peak region of the Napa Valley. In 2014 Rob accepted his current position at Renteria Vineyard Management where he continues his passion of growing and learning in the Vineyards.
