The core platform technology involves the genetic engineering of enzymes for a wide variety of applications in Pharmaceutical Manufacturing, Life Science and Drug Discovery.Reporting to the CEO, accountable for Program Management, Process Development, Manufacturing & Supply Chain, Facilities and HSE.▷ Reshaped and developed a team of ~50 employees, across a wide span of disciplines, for greater productivity and execution focus. ▷ Led assessment and development of manufacturing options for future enzyme production in RNA/DNA synthesis, including outsourcing and insourcing strategies and a facility design/scoping project.

Reporting to the CEO, accountable for strategic leadership, revenue- and P&L-execution and growth of Codexis’ principal revenue generating business unit.▷ Built out the Commercial, Marketing and Product-focused teams (to 20+ employees from <10). ▷ Led the Business Unit’s expansion into targeted Life Science markets (Genomic Sequencing and DNA/RNA Synthesis). ▷ Oversaw Business Unit revenue growth from ~$50 to ~$120M between 2019 and 2022, including leadership of rapid and successful delivery of enzyme catalyst to enable Pfizer’s 2021-22 production of Paxlovid during the COVID pandemic.

Initially reporting to the Enzymes Business Unit Head and ultimately to the CEO, accountable for Business Operations across both the Enzymes and Biotherapeutics Business Units including program management, alliance management, outsourced development & manufacturing and supply chain.▷ Led operational execution for all product sales; control of internal/external budget of ~ $20M; led strategic interactions with critical supply partners.▷ Involved directly in most key negotiations for the company, including research collaborations, product supply agreements and licensing deals; served as a steering committee member on multiple strategic alliances.▷ Spearheaded Codexis’ first ever biotherapeutic clinical development program, including manufacture of the drug, execution of a Phase 1 clinical study in Australia and subsequent successful application for a US IND.

Reporting to the Business Unit Head and accountable for technology transfer and outsourcing, business analysis, and leadership of product development through R&D, scale up and commercialization.▷ Oversaw the development and commercialization of the majority of Codexis’ enzymes and intermediates for the manufacture of pharmaceuticals.▷ Led Codexis’ customer proposal process and catalog products business, as well as alliance management for R&D programs, including platform technology licensing deals.

Reporting to the Business Unit Head, accountable for technology transfer and outsourcing, business analysis, and leadership of product development through R&D, scale up and commercialization. ▷ Involved deeply in successful establishment of a new Singapore facility; working closely with the head of R&D to hire the team, establish culture, build fit-for-purpose systems and lead successful R&D execution to deliver business growth.▷ Built and led the program management function and mentored customer-focused thinking across an inexperienced team.

Reporting to the Head of R&D, accountable for successful technology transfer of Codexis’ new enzymes and chemistry processes to development and manufacturing partners and customers in EU & Asia for the production of pharmaceutical ingredients and intermediates.

seqWell is a Boston-based life science company, created to revolutionize NGS library prep to unlock the full potential of today’s DNA sequencing instruments through its transformative library prep. technology.▷ Codexis’ representative on the seqWell Board of Directors, following a strategic investment.

Led project and technical operations (2001-2004) and later became P&L accountable, in addition (2004-06), for a self-contained GMP development and manufacturing unit serving Pharma customers with clinical stage intermediates and active ingredients.▷ Played a crucial role in all aspects of conception, design, construction, recruitment, establishment and running of the new unit.▷ Co-created and implemented new systems of work in project management, technology transfer, manufacturing and quality and helped grow the business from $0 to $5+M revenue between 2002 and 2006.

Managing a team responsible for route selection, process development and technology transfer of projects to manufacturing, the role was critical to the successful execution of manufacturing projects at Avecia’s UK facilities and at outsourcing partners.
