Following a 5 year spell working overseas, I returned to the UK in 2009 and subsequently formed Spring11 Limited to provide freelance and consultancy services to private and commercial clients and contractors. Assignments have generally been procurement and various quantity surveying, commercial and project management roles varying in duration between one month and several years. Sectors include commercial fit out, facilities management, prime residential, mixed use new build, refurbishment, engineering and technology. I have either worked alone or have employed and managed individuals or a small team, dependent on each project’s particular requirements.

At Gardiner & Theobald I was employed as a Senior Project & Cost Manager in a more strategic role to provide higher level management and staff support whilst also carrying out various project and cost management roles from pre-construction to final account and beyond. I would also prepare fee proposals and technical due diligence and bank monitoring reports.Initially based in Zagreb, I found it difficult to settle there and moved on to Prague where I had effective involvement on a number of projects. I was unfortunately made redundant in 2009 as a result of the downturn in the global economy.Sectors included hospitality, commercial and residential and included new build, refurbishment and fit out.

Ayala creates some of the world’s most luxurious private interiors for high net worth individuals as well as the construction of five star hotels and deluxe leisure facilities. All projects are built for the most demanding of private and commercial clients including royalty and dignitaries. The company is effectively a “one stop shop” providing turnkey solutions to clients, encompassing all aspects of consultancy, design and construction contracting.Working at Ayala was character forming to say the least with very little support provided and numerous internal problems however the projects for which I was ultimately responsible were completed successfully. Roles and responsibilities included all aspects of project, commercial and site management from inception to final account and beyond as well as design management and co-ordination whilst working very closely with some extremely demanding clients.

London, Paris, Amsterdam, Channel Islands

Employed as Commercial Manager as part of a team on large data centre projects in Paris and Amsterdam for Global Switch. The role encompassed all traditional quantity surveying duties as well as extensive construction and project management as I took responsibility for these roles on a number of the tenants’ technical fit outs. Both Paris and Amsterdam projects featured heavy services and security installations to allow the client to let data floors to tenants such as Global Crossing, Cable & Wireless and GTS. As these projects were our first ‘super’ data centres and first overseas projects an extensive and rapid learning process was undertaken by all.
