APPEA is the peak national body representing Australia’s upstream oil and gas exploration andproduction industry. It seeks to achieve a policy framework that maximises the return onAustralia’s oil and gas resources, facilitates investment in exploration and development andcontinues to improve the HSE performance of the industry. As Policy Director HSE my mission is to lead development of strategies to continuously streamline, simplify and modernise the regulation which governs HSE and facilitates industry collaborations in driving improvements in HSE performance and in stakeholder engagement. My role provides analysis, advice and advocacy to support a national member base in their interfaces with HSE regulators government departments, and politicians, at State and National level in relation to both offshore and onshore related matters.

As CEO, responsible for overall day-to-day management of Seafarms, a major aquaculture production and development company and Australia's largest producer of farmed prawns (shrimp). Role involved: P&L responsibility for the current $30M revenue per annum business; merger and amalgamation (of WARL) with ASX-listed CO2 Group Limited (ASX:COZ which then became Commodities Group); acquisition of three businesses, capital-raising; legal and financial management; business development and operations oversight of the company. Also responsible for recruitment of key staff during the development of the company and held ultimate accountability for the workplace health and safety of over 60 FT and up to 40 PT staff. In March 2015 the ASX listed company was restructured as Seafarms Group Limited (SFG) - a major seafood commodity producer and - with the proposed development of the AUD$1.5B Project Sea Dragon, is poised to be a globally significant seafood producer with projected revenues of in excess of $200M per annum by 2017.From 2010, I was MD/CEO of predecessor Western Australian Resources Ltd (WARL) a resources development company, participating in several minerals joint ventures and exploration programs and holding interests in water and natural resources developments. In 2011, WAR embarked on a new business direction and in Q2 2012 completed Concept Feasibility for the development of large-scale aquaculture production systems in Northern Australia. In August 2012, WARL merged with ASX-listed company CO2 Group Limited (ASX: COZ) and in January 2014, re-branded as SEAFARMS GROUP LIMITED following the acquisition of Seafarm - the oldest and one of Australia's largest prawn farmers - in Cardwell, Queensland and Marine Farms Pty Ltd - a barramundi fish farming operation and facilities in Exmouth, Western Australia.

Worked with the UK petroleum major BG Group plc (www.bg-group.com) from its arrival in Australia, joint venture with and subsequent acquisition of Queensland Gas Company Limited (and other coal seam gas developers) and the development of the Queensland Curtis liquefied natural gas (QCLNG) Project where I was responsible for the strategy, implementation and management of the extensive environmental and planning approvals required for this major project.

As General Counsel for oil & gas engineering contractor Petroleum Development Consultants Pty Ltd, advised the company on a range of commercial and legal risks and undertook contractual documentation management associated with PDC's role as subsea installation contractor for new oil production facilities at AED Oil's Puffin field in the Timor Sea, Australia. Key issues and contractual documentation managed included GST and tax issues, principal installation contract (AED - PDC), vessel contract (PDC - TS Marine/Fugro), tug vessel (BIMCO) contracts (PDC - Swire Group), major equipment contracts (PDC - Clough), insurance risk management and personnel/HR issues.

As GKV appointed director, co-founded the Australasian arm of leading international investment research and advisory firm Innovest. Innovest's core business was the provision of reporting services and metrics to determine stock market listed companies’ performance on sustainability issues (environmental, social, and strategic governance) and their impacts on competitiveness, profitability and share price performance. Innovest was recognised by independent commentators as the leading firm in the world in the area of socially responsible investment (SRI) research and was the founding research provider for the Carbon Disclosure Project a global survey of hundreds of institutional investors and their investee companies'​ risk exposure to carbon-related risk exposures (see https://www.cdp.net ).In January 2007, Innovest group of companies was acquired by Us-based ISS Governance Services and in 2009, ISSGS/Innovest was acquired by the Risk Metrics Group (www.riskmetrics.com). As consultant and lawyer, worked in the areas of major projects, environmental and planning, M&A, financial services and intellectual property. Provided specialist advice on environmental and planning law matters and risks including including greenhouse gas management and carbon trading issues, contaminated sites management, water rights and law, HSE due diligence in mergers and acquisitions, social and environmental issues in project financing and financial services, genetically-modified organisms, biotechnology and intellectual property issues, mining and energy law, particularly petroleum, gas pipelines and renewables.

Provided advice and managed regulatory affairs for operational functions including: exploration (seismic, drilling, FI/O transactions); development (engineering & construction); operations (FPSOs, gas processing, pipelines), M&A & new ventures.As part of BHP's Global Oil Spill Response Team was one of the first responders and managed the company's environmental management function for the MV Iron Baron oil spill in the Tamar Estuary, northern Tasmania.

Employed by Jacobs predecessor company SKM as a specialist marine scientist, undertook a range of assignments and projects in permitting, impact assessment, oil spill planning, feasibility and transaction advisory for clients in the petroleum, ports & coastal development, tourism and government sectors. Originally joined company when Sinclair Knight Merz acquired specialist marine environmental consulting firm, Marine BioLogic which I co-founded, in 1986.

As senior environmental consultant and SE Asia technical lead for leading international geotechnical & environmental consulting firm Dames & Moore (acquired by URS in 1999) undertook a range of projects and assignments for clients primarily in the petroleum, industrial and chemicals sectors in Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and Middle East.
