As a network administrator at FMFCU, I'm part of a small team of skilled individuals. My role is usually something of a jack-of-all-trades, which has allowed me to get my hands on a wide variety of systems. This has led to me becoming the go-to person for any special projects that come our way. With a team of specialists to support me, I'm able to come up with creative solutions to every problem or project brought before us.Prior to joining FMFCU, I spent time with the Unix team at Wyeth (now Pfizer), and quickly made good use of my time. When I started I was completely new to the Unix environment, and by the time I left I was comfortable administering applications and upgrades across multiple versions of Unix and Linux. I was eventually given the responsibility of deploying a system monitoring solution across the full range of Unix systems, and I was proudly able to deliver that before the end of my internship.As an IT professional, my greatest joy comes from bringing together the disparate bits of knowledge I have to come up with solutions where others are stumped. Simply finding a solution is never the end, however, as I also take pride in being able to reduce even the most complicated processes down to automated solutions that eliminate human error and run without intervention.While I am skilled in a number of areas including network security, business continuity planning, and Windows administration, I always keep my eyes peeled for opportunities to learn new things. Making sure my toolbox continues to expand is a strong focus for me, as I firmly believe that knowing a little bit of everything is the key to being able to solve anything.I'm always interested in talking to other creative problem solvers, and I'll take any chance I can to learn a little bit about what you know, so don't be shy.
