In my executive banking roles I have built and motivated large-scale, customer-facing teams, then led them to achieve exceptional results - most recently this has been leading the £20bn balance sheet Commercial and Business Banking division at Williams & Glyn. I am hugely proud of what we achieved in less than two years, delivering market-leading growth alongside removal of up to one fifth of the cost base - all in a context of an extremely demanding performance environment. I'm now enjoying applying the experience I've gained in banking to the challenge of building Britain's best wealth planning business at IWP.Fundamentally, I see my role as to serve the interests of the business, which I interpret as extending to customers and employees. In FY2016, I led the team that achieved improved risk and customer satisfaction metrics, in spite of previous proposition changes and continued organisational uncertainty. Engaging with employees is a crucial part of business challenge for me, and one that defines my leadership style. I firmly believe that understanding and embracing the reality of individual roles, employers and industries truly empowers staff and enables them to become active participants in, rather than observers of their career outcomes. In previous roles, I have set up new businesses functions; worked at the forefront of active credit portfolio management and been accountable for monitoring a €44bn global portfolio. I’ve recruited and built multi-disciplinary teams, worked extensively with Private Equity firms and negotiated with banks and other bodies. As non-executive with The Boat Race Company Ltd I reversed poor performance, improved the cash position and future strategic platform for this relatively small organisation, and am delighted that, along with the company’s Chairman, I achieved equality for women in the race and delivered financial turnaround/survival of the organisation.Outside the day job I am a keen sportsman and like to push the limits of my ability, in particular in running. I’m an avid reader too and enjoy business and other non-fiction books and journals.
