During this time I enrolled for, and completed a distance-learning degree course in Wildlife Management and Game Park Management, from the University of South Africa (UNISA).After returning to South Africa I joined the S A Parks Board and teamed up with, Dr Anthony Hall-Martin, became involved in the capture and relocation of elephants.I headed up the capture and relocation team in Operation Phoenix where between 16 000 and 18 000 animals were moved from the Kruger National Park and other game reserves to Madikwe Game reserve. It was the largest game relocation project that has ever been undertaken. I then had a break and after opening a photographic studio was approached by the newspapers and eventually did stints with both of South Africa's largest Sunday Papers as a photo journalist for eight yearsIn 1991 Edgecomb was declared South Africa's Press Photographer of the Year. In 1994 with the arrival of democracy, I could see South Africa was ripe with opportunities, I knew tourists would look at the country with new eyes. As a proud South African I wanted to show others my little corner of paradise. During my 18 years in the tour business I have owned and run two lodges, one was a tented lodge (5 tents) the other a 5 star 5 chalet lodge, both within Big 5 reserves.My house has also been used as a Guest House for clients who came on safari or tours with me.
